The LGA being the DILG-Central Local Government Scholarship Committee (DILG-CLGSC) has released a list of Scholarship opportunities for LGUs. The scholarship programs that are currently being offered are from Thailand, Taiwan, Sweden and Malaysia. Among the programs that are being offered are:

Its now out and available for download is the recent LGU compilation done by the LGA entitled SPARKPLUG which consists of 120 LGUs identified as potential 'economic spark plugs'  by the National Competitiveness Council (NCC). The LGUs that were put together in this compilation were classified according to Economic Zones as mentioned by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during one of her State of the Nation Addresses.

An IDF grant was accorded to the Local Government Academy to strengthen its capacity to coordinate and oversee local government training an capacity building. The grant materializes LGA's vision of becoming more responsive to the growing needs of its clientele. It also aims to enrich the Academy's standards for excellence to be of better service to the citizenry.

The LGA has engaged the Center for Advanced Philippines Studies (CAPS) to provide technical advisory services (TAS) in the Municipality of Villareal, Samar in implementing the Ecological Sanitation (Ecosan) Project through training, pilot testing and hand on mentoring in the implementation of low-cost sanitation facility. The TAS aims to equip the local municipal stakeholders and WATSAN Team with the necessary knowledge and skills in the operation and management of the Ecosan Project.

A leadership training program was conducted for lcoal chief executives (LCEs) of target LGUs of the Strengthening Local Governments in the Philippines project. The Project Management Office of the LGA implemented the Executive Course for the Enhancement of Local Leaders (EXCELL) course in two batches to strangthen the internal capacities of priority LGUs of the Spanish project in Bicol and CARAGA region in responding to the demands and challenges of being effective leaders of their localities.
