- International Covenants on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and on Civil and Political Rights
- International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination
- Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women

Human rights law helps states respond appropriately to the challenges of the HIV and AIDS epidemic by providing a framework on which they can formulate laws and policies that integrate public health objectives and human rights standards.
