The Local Governance Resource Center (LGRC)

The Local Governance Resource Center (LGRC) is a dynamic, interactive and virtual program that contributes to building the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) as a knowledge centric organization (KCO) and builds learning communities that pursue local governance excellence through knowledge sharing and innovation.

The LGRC was established to address the following concerns :

• Need to consolidate the wealth of information on good local governance
• Need to improve access to these knowledge and information
• Need to promote a culture of learning, sharing and replication in local governance
• Need to achieve synergy of efforts in working towards excellence in local governance
• Need to harness people, process, technology in knowledge

The Goals

• To promote a culture of learning and knowledge sharing in pursuit of sustainable development through excellence in local governance
• To support DILG in its role as a primary catalyst for excellence in local governance
• To harness the role of DILG as knowledge brokers and facilitators of capacity development in local governance
• To facilitate the integration of knowledge management in DILG processes and systems towards building the Department as a Knowledge Centric Organization

LGRC Program Components

The LGRC has four program components namely :

• Multi-media knowledge and information which includes the physical and e-library
• Capacity Development
• Linkage
• Public Education

The Network of LGRCs

Currently there are eight (8) LGRCs established nationwide. The LGRC at the national level is hosted by the Local Government Academy. The LGRCs in the regions are located in the following DILG Regional Offices :

• DILG RO I - San Fernando City, La Union
• DILG RO II - Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
• DILG RO III - City of San Fernando, Pampanga
• DILG RO V - Legazpi City, Albay
• DILG RO VI - Iloilo City
• DILG RO VII - Cebu City
• DILG RO IX - Cagayan de Oro City
