INTERNATIONAL LINKS
The
Network of Local Government Training and Research
Institute in Asia and the Pacific (LOGOTRI)
was organized in Bangkok, Thailand with the
assistance of United Nations Economic and Social
Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP).
Its purpose in to establish technical cooperation
among local government training and research
institutes in Asia and the Pacific and to strengthen
each other's institutional and technical capacities.

Member Organization
LGA
as member of International Union of Local Authorities
(IULA), a worldwide organization of local governments
and local government authorities. IULA assists
in strengthening the institutional capacity,
promotion of local autonomy and improving the
service delivery of local governments. It is
a venue for international exchange of information
and expertise on matters concerned with local
governance.
The
Academy has an existing collaboration with the
United States for International Development
(USAID) under the Governance and Local Democracy
Project (GOLD). GOLD, whose purpose is the achievement
of effective local governance through popular
participation, hopes to bring about responsive
democratic institutions in realizing full decentralization
together with LGA. The objectives of the partnership
is to train DILG staff in an open participatory
approach and prepare modules in project development
to enable them to assist local governments.
Among the activities to be undertaken is the
conduct of the Technology of Participation Course
(ToP), workshops on project development and
municipal environmental planning and development
of the community-based resource management modules.
