The Knowledge Management (KM) Audit Orientation Workshop for LGRC Program Managers was held as part of the Strengthening Local Governance Resource Centers in the Philippines with the support of the European Union. To identify valid interventions to strengthen the LGRCs, baseline information on how KM is integrated in the organization is important. Composing this baseline information are results of the LGRC Assessment and the KM Audit. Operating on the premise that determining the correct problems will yield correct solutions, the KM Audit will be conducted to all the regions. Realizing that leadership’s buy in is important in any undertaking, an orientation workshop on the KM Audit is held for Program Managers.
34 participants composed of LGRC Program Managers (Assistant Regional Directors) and the Linkage Service Coordinator in the regions attended the said orientation-workshop. The activity features inputs on the KM Audit Tools and processes, KM’s relevance in local governance and Updates on the LGRC operations. Methodologies such as Structured Learning Exercises, open forum, lecture-discussions were used to yield a Plan of Action containing their KM Priority Programs and the conduct of their internal and external KM Audit. This in turn will strengthen capacities of the LGRC Team in KM Audit and will yield to implementation of KM priority programs in the regions. The KM Audit tools include: KM Assessment, Social Network Analysis, Knowledge Mapping and Knowledge Capital Planning. Inputs on how to go about the KM Audit Report was also tackled. Leveled understanding on the LGRC as a strategy towards effective DILG operations was obtained from the discussions. The DILG should be operating in the LGRC way. With this, DILG can sharpen its relevance in good local governance. With this, examining how the LGRC, which is anchored on the Knowledge Management framework, is being practiced in the DILG will yield to valid identification of training and capacity development interventions for the organization.
Ms. Thelma Vecina, Assistant Director of LGA welcomed the participants during the Opening Program and Director Marivel C. Sacendoncillo of LGA provided inputs in going about their Action Planning. Presentation of Key Deliverables and Roadmap for the Strengthening LGRCs Program was also presented by Mr. Sly Barrameda as input to prioritize KM Programs.
