LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACADEMY

The LGA has engaged the Center for Advanced Philippines Studies (CAPS) to provide technical advisory services (TAS) in the Municipality of Villareal, Samar in implementing the Ecological Sanitation (Ecosan) Project through training, pilot testing and hand on mentoring in the implementation of low-cost sanitation facility. The TAS aims to equip the local municipal stakeholders and WATSAN Team with the necessary knowledge and skills in the operation and management of the Ecosan Project.
 
The project implemented the following major activities: Ecosan orientation and training for LGU and pilot cooperators, formulation of local Ecosan Project Teams, conduct of participatory rapid appraisal on community hygiene and sanitation, establishment of model Ecosan toilet facility and the development of a monitoring and feedback mechanism
 
The Municipality of Villareal, Samar is a recipient of technical assistance from LGA in coming up with a feasibility study that was able to access a loan from the MDFO for its level 3 water supply and barangay sanitation plan for 5 barangays. A series of workshops have been conducted in the Preparation of Municipal Integrated Water Supply and Sanitation Plan.
