WORLD BANK-IDF SUPPORTS A STRENGTHENED LGA

An IDF grant was accorded to the Local Government Academy to strengthen its capacity to coordinate and oversee local government training an capacity building. The grant materializes LGA's vision of becoming more responsive to the growing needs of its clientele. It also aims to enrich the Academy's standards for excellence to be of better service to the citizenry.
 
The said Capacity-Building Program for LGA has 3 components:
 
Component 1 will involve developing a new business model for LGA with a stronger coordinating and oversight role in local government capacity building while at the same time institutionalizing knowledge management (KM) as a core LGA function. It will be complemented by enabling the LGA staff to gain comparative approaches on knowledge management models  through participation in multi-country learning events and study tours.
 
Component 2 focuses on strengthening LGA's KM System in support of the aforementioned oversight role. Consultants will be hired to review and propose recommendations to improve LGA's knowledge management system and databases.
 
The final component will zero in on supporting and financing the study for institutional requirements for professional certification system in key areas of LGU functions.
 
Terms of references for the consultants are already submitted and awaiting for World Bank's approval. Initial preparations are being finalized to officially start the program.
